It’s Craft Fair Time! from QUilting By-You

It doesn’t really seem possible that it has been a year since we were last at a craft show. We know that the last year (well, year plus) has been a difficult time. Many of us weren’t able to do many of the things that we normally would. We missed out on school, work, vacations, and memories. It seems to be a slow slog to get back to our normal. Each step we take toward normal feels exciting and sometimes scary at the same time for many of us. Some of us are more than ready to completely ...

What it’s really like running a small business during COVID … with 2 kids and NO school or daycare from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

Today we’re giving you a peak into our everyday lives as my husband and I work round the clock alternating between taking care of our two small kids and running our business, Quilt Addicts Anonymous.

It’s constant work from 7 a.m. to midnight or later EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Right now we’re especially swamped because last week we got a shipment of fabric on a semi of my first fabric collection, Nocturne. We’re trying to get the orders shipped out as quickly as possible.

So enjoy, get a behind-the-scenes look, and know that we are working ...

Charity Continues at Home from QUilting By-You

It seems like during this time fundraising for our favorite charities is down and small businesses are struggling to stay open.

Yet, at the same time I find some hope in watching fellow quilters still creating for their favorite places. Animal Shelters, Linus, local schools, and food pantries just to name a few.

Perhaps you were a mask maker helping out your local hospital, senior living, or homeless population.

Maybe you went through your stash to make a donation to your local church for their Covid efforts.

I have even seen quilts being created to raffle off for local charities ...

I know, it’s been a while…. from QUilting By-You

Happy quilting! It has been a while since we showed some love to our blog… Once again we are going to reboot and give it another go!

It has also been a rough ride this year so far. Just when we think that we are getting ahead, some random event comes along that makes us question all of our life choices.

We are still here at the shop and we have made some changes in light of the current situation. We are only taking one renter at a time and trying to schedule appointments where there is no overlap. We ...

SO I DID A THING....... from That's Sew Kerry

I bought a Longarm machine

Often, when you least expect it, life throws you a curve ball. Something you weren't expecting happens and you don't really know what to do, this happened to me at the beginning of the year when I was forced out of a job I loved because of poor leadership and lack of support, but as the saying goes when one door closes another one opens!

I have longingly looked at longarm quilting machines for quite sometime, but they are big so where would I put it and they are expensive so it isn ...

Vlog: Moving our shop into our dining room to shelter in place … We are still shipping! from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

As of 5 p.m. last night Illinois is a shelter in place state and all residents are to stay in their homes and non-essential businesses are to close for two weeks starting tomorrow.

We got a heads up that this was coming late last Thursday night and immediately put into motion efforts that will allow us to keep shipping to you through this time. We turned on the cameras as we prepped to take you along with our journey.

Working in conjunction with our fabulous fabric manufacturers and distributors, we were able to place orders for the next month ...
